The choice of the right coating material and pretreatment depends on the general requirements for the surface and its resistance to weather and environmental influences. In normal central european climates and normal environmental influences, single-layer polyester powders with chromate-free passivation in accordance with GSB/QC standard or master quality are predominantly used outdoors. HWF (highly weatherproof/superdurable) powders offer increased weather resistance and can be used in all climate zones around the world.
In cases of extreme use caused by aggressive climatic conditions such as sea climate, UV radiation, high humidity, industrial exhaust gases, chemical emissions or in case of highest quality requirements, the so-called pre-anodization (VA) is recommended to protect the coated profiles against filiform corrosion.

Pretreatment variants
- pre-anodization: pre-anodization is currently the best solution in terms of corrosion protection - especially when it comes to avoiding filiform corrosion. It is an absolute must, especially when used in aggressive industrial or maritime climates.
- chromium-free pre-treatment: Chromate-free pre-treatment of the materials is environmentally friendly and essential, especially for objects that are to be certified according to DGNB or LEED etc. as part of sustainable construction.
