Electro Ceramic Coating

Coatings made by ECC-process at Koenigsdorf have exceptional chemical and thermal resistance. ECC combines extremely high corrosion protection and excellent temperature resistance with excellent abrasion resistance. Electro Ceramic Coating is a multifunctional plasma coating. The materials aluminum, titanium, magnesium and their alloys can be coated using the ECC process in the same way as aluminized, aluminum-plated or IVD-coated substrates.

ECC leads to an exponential improvement in corrosion resistance and performance, for example in marine engines, automotive powertrain parts or various industrial parts exposed to moisture or environmental pollutants such as fuel and oil. It is also used in household appliances or cookware. With the ECC process, a hardness of 1400 HV can be achieved while maintaining flexibility. ECC also provides a good basis for paints, adhesives and sealants. The ECC coating replaces the traditional cleaning and blasting pre-treatment in many thermal spray applications and at the same time improves the adhesion of these spray materials.

Advantages of ECC-coated materials

  • Quality: excellent protection against corrosion, extreme temperatures and abrasion
  • Environment and sustainability: increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions from internal combustion engines
  • Economic efficiency: simplifies the manufacturing process and saves costs
  • Friction reduction: low coefficient of friction and improved wear
  • Weight reduction: Replacement of steel with ECC coated aluminum is possible
